First sessions on the PPC Orbit 3.5m :
+ Amazing upwind feel, cutting through the air like a knife. Feels like a comfortable formula 1
+ Vmg seem to be 0.5-1kts above the 777 hybrid, to be confirmed with more data
+ Pal trim system is industry changing. Allows to change the profile camber at take off and while racing upwind, to adjust the grunt
+ Packing and water drain are close to the hybrids, fairly fast and easy
– More technical than the hybrids, bar requires finess. Hybrids are more plug and play.
– Frequent asymetrical collapses, can be anticipated with active piloting. Probably improved in future versions. Not a deal breaker for me
– Less take off grunt than an hybrid it seems. Low end probably around 18kts for me
– Bar harness line can be improved, using a cheap gong one that works fine atm
Overall loving it but took a bit of time to understand it. Made for people going on long upwinds.
Screenshots are from last session, 48km in 2h, 16km upwind leg, average vmg 7.4kts, in 20-25kts of wind, on enduro 800.
Great job @ppcfoiling and @novaparagliders! Thank you for bringing this amazing tool to the market 🙏
