Foil assist update : Doing most sessions on foil assist these days, almost zero prone/wing. Towing is possible on the silk 650, upwind downwinds possible on the enduro 800. Pod drag is a problem that is more and more apparent though.
1. Energy/duration got solved by going with 4 packs of samsung for 888wh in a 12L/5kg backpack. Solid state battery increase the energy density by 30% (!) which changes the game. Not sure why foildrive is not using that yet?
2. Pod drag is what remains to be improved. How to get to the prone feels? Working on smaller diameter motor (~50mm) and slick pod, the printer is running hard! The alternative is the tow boogie, but it’s a challenge in breaking waves so far. To be continued!
