Exploring more Fone gear.. the sk8 850 is the best surffoil wing I have felt yet, especially winging where glide can be compromised a little. Best for knee to chest high waves at rider around 80kg.
Compared to the Eagle 790 :
+ Smoother turning
+ Better breach handling
+ More robust in the chops and white wash, super reliable
+ Slightly better low end
– Less glide (especially felt proning, I still prefer the eagle there)
– Less top end (maxing out around head high.. eagle is still better in bigger surf)
C200 tail is decent, well behavied and smooth roll, but a bit slow. Chopped it to around 11″ with short fuse (@misterbennetts tuning) gives a fast, pitch stable and roll free setup, feels really good.
If you chop your tail on one side only it frees the roll asymmetrically! Can be interesting for easier roll on heel side for example.
The exploration continues, might try to get the mako glide tail as a lot of people are frothing on it, with @hadrien_brunner leading the charge.
Gear is still getting better, foil waves are still empty, what a time to be alive 🙌🥳
